Curriculum
The Birches Academy of Academics and Art embraces the natural diversity of all learners. At our core is a commitment to top-quality teaching while meeting our students' social, emotional, and physical needs. Using an arts integration approach to teaching and learning, our educators teach students to look closely, listen carefully, respond thoughtfully, and work collaboratively. Students are challenged to accept problems, develop and implement solutions and reflect on the results. By focusing on this process, students develop new levels of independence in their learning.
In addition to the core disciplines—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—The Birches Academy offers Art, Music, Foreign Language, and Physical Education.
We recognize the influence of technology in our world, so we expose students to traditional and digital learning environments. Laptops and iPads are readily available to all of our students.
We offer a mix of single-grade classrooms and mixed-grade classrooms.
