The Birches Academy’s Day of Giving is back for its 4th annual celebration of community, creativity, and generosity! This 24-hour online fundraiser kicks off at our end of the year musical and is your chance to directly support the students, staff, and programs that make our school so special.

Bridging the Funding Gap: Your Support Matters

For 13 years, The Birches Academy has been dedicated to delivering a high-quality, arts-integrated, STEAM-based education that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and personalized learning. However, the financial landscape presents significant challenges.​

In the 2023–2024 school year, the average cost to educate a student in New Hampshire was $21,545, with districts like Salem spending $19,201 per student. In stark contrast, The Birches Academy receives only $9,180 per student—less than half of the state average. ​

This substantial funding gap means we must do more with less. While traditional public schools benefit from local property taxes and additional state aid, public charter schools like ours rely solely on state funding, which is significantly lower. ​

Your generous contribution during our 4th Annual Day of Giving will directly impact our school, our students, and our future right here in Salem, NH.

  • Maintaining Small Class Sizes: Ensuring personalized attention with a 12:1 student-teacher ratio.

  • Enhancing Enrichment Programs: Supporting Art, Music, Spanish, and Physical Education offerings.

  • Strengthening STEAM Curriculum: Fostering interdisciplinary learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

  • Securing Our Future: Investing in the sustainability and improvement of our facilities at 419 S. Broadway.​

Last year, The Birches Academy in Salem, NH launched its biggest fundraising effort yet — a $50,000 Day of Giving campaign, kicked off at our end-of-year musical at Tupelo Music Hall and powered by our passionate community over a 24-hour online push. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we didn’t just meet our goal — we exceeded it!

A standout moment? A generous donor stepped forward with a $6,500 matching gift, pushing us past the finish line and into the next chapter of our journey.

And what a chapter it’s been.

Because of you, we’ve been able to:

  • 🏫 Expand our space and create new classrooms

  • 🎨 Enhance our facilities to better serve students and staff

  • 🔧 Begin making our long-held building improvement dreams come true
